Committees & Responsibilities

Engagement and Finance Committee

 

  • Manages the annual budget and ensures the association meets its budgeted revenues and expenses.
  • Develops plans for short and long-term projects such as water quality monitoring and treatment, invasive species management, etc.
  • Provides oversight of investments, fundraising efforts, and capital campaigns including sponsorship and benefactor efforts.
  • Oversees membership recruiting and engagement activities, including establishing membership criteria, membership levels, and dues.
  • Develops mechanisms to stay closely connected to members and act as the “voice of the membership” to communicate priorities, concerns, and programing necessary to address the needs of the members.

Environmental Committee

 

  • Oversees all environmental efforts in service of the mission of the BSLA.
  • Participates in annual educational offerings to ensure currency of information regarding lake and environmental risks/actions and share that with the board on a quarterly basis.
  • Provides recommended communications and messaging to members regarding these efforts, challenges and opportunities to best protect and preserve the lake, watershed and environment surrounding BSL.
  • Works to actively form relationship and partnerships with key local and state officials, such as the DNR.
  • Recommendations advocacy opportunities and channels for the BSLA to lend our voice and support for environmental issues and concerns.
  • Work with partners to oversee the fingerling program for BSLA.

Events and Activities Committee

 

  • Responsible for managing expenses/revenues in accordance with annual budget.
  • Organizes and delivers activities in service to members as decided and directed by the board. These activities may include:
  • 4th of July Fireworks
  • Annual Road Run
  • Fishing Contest
  • Poker Run
  • Road Clean-Up
  • Food Drive
