Fingerling Program

The Big Star Lake Association (BSLA) maintains a strong relationship with the Mason County Walleye Association and the Michigan Department of Natural Resources (DNR). The Mason County Walleye Association raises walleye fingerlings for the DNR. Through this relationship, Big Star Lake benefits from their work, normally receiving a planting of walleye fingerlings every two to three years. Over the last several years, we have watched the walleye population grow with reports of many large walleyes being caught every year!

The BSLA appreciates the partnership with the Mason County Walleye Association and the DNR to maintain a healthy and vibrant fishing experience for all.
